Problem with RAS

I had RAS working for a while then it stopped. I rebooted the server but the
service would not start. The error I am getting are as follow:

1. event ID 7023. The remote Access Connection manager service terminated
with the following error: The specified Module could not be found

2. EventId 20067. Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because
the Point to Point Protocol failed to initialize.

3. EventID 20074. Point to point protocol engine was unable to load the
module.

Any ideas. I am using NT40 with SP6

You might try reinstalling Remote Access Service

Control Panel|Network|Services|Remote Access Service|Remove. then restart
for effect, checking Event Viewer to be sure you're error free here before
proceeding. Then My Computer|Dial-up Networking, and follow the prompts to
reinstall Ras/Dun. After Ras/Dun setup you must reapply your current service
pack.

Tried that. It did not work. It seems like event20067 that PTP failed to
initialize was the first error in the event log.

It may help to know what caused it. Update, software and or hardware
install.

823803 causes RAS not to work. It is update for Server only

SS,

This particular problem of RAS being broken by 823803 WAS the case - the hotfix
was replaced with a revised edition about a week ago - it is suitable for both
NT4.0 Server and workstation. See KB articles 825501 and 823803 (revised) for
all the details.

I uninstalled the hotfix 823803 and installed the recommended fix by
Microsoft called windowsntserver-kb823803-x86-enu.exe. I have not tried my
VPN yet but I get error 20026 that

"Remote access server security failed. A network error has occurred when
trying to establish a session with the security agent on LANA 0. The error
code is the data"

Am I doing something wrong?
