I am able to run logon scripts with Windows XP clients on
a Windows NT 4 server.  The Windows 98 clients, however,
are not running the scripts.  Is there something special
that needs to be done so that the 98 clients can run the
logon script?

Dear Jeff,

Thank you for your posting.

According to your post, you wonder how to implement logon script on Win98
clients.

If I have misunderstood your concern please don't hesitate to let me know.

This behavior can occur because Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows
Millennium Edition operating systems cannot process the .cmd extension.

To resolve this behavior, you can use either of the following two methods:

a. Change the extension on the file from .cmd to .bat.

-or-

b. Associate the .cmd extension with Command.com.

MORE INFORMATION
================
The preceding clients do not support the use of long file names with logon
scripts. Use Microsoft MS-DOS version 8.3 naming conventions when you name
the logon script file.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Seaver Ren
