I need to re-install the Windows NT 4.0 Boot loader.
I am not very knoweledgable on this subject.
Someone else installed a boot loader called LILO so I
could boot NT or Linux.
After software troubles I did a clean install of NT40
however the system now hangs at boot. The "LILO" loader
displays "LI" then everythng stops.
I would like to go back to a single boot sytem just
running Windows NT4.0.
I have deleted all partitions, reformatted the disk, then
done a clean install of NT4.0 on the newly formated
primary partition (3093 MB) but the system still stops
after displaying "LI"
Can anyone point me in the right direction?????

This is typical for installations done the way LILO is calling NT loader
(LILO resides inside MBR). Recommended practice is to let NT loader to load
LILO (with LILO moved out of MBR, where should be standard IBM compatible
bootstrap code).
To replace bootstrap code in MBR simply boot your machine from MS-DOS system
floppy and after you get command prompt type following command:
fdisk /mbr
If you have not such floppy and cannot make it yourself, look for good
prepared system floppy images on www.bootdisk.com (use the one for DOS
version 6.22).

Two methods can be used to reinstall the Windows boot loader code on a hard
drive:
1) ***Preferred method*** Boot to the recovery console from a Windows 2000
CD and use the command: FIXMBR.
2) Boot from a Windows 98 diskette and use the command: FDISK /MBR
Either method will rewrite the boot loader code in sector 0 of the hard
drive with Windows boot code.
