W2k DNS almonst working on NT domain

Hi, All...

We´re trying to work with a W2k DNS Server on our NT Domain, but it
works only for internet, not for our intranet.
We put our ISP DNS on Forwarders Tab, and our Intranet DNS on
Root-Hints Tab.
When I call NSLOOKUP, the message:
*** Can´t find server name for address 53.197.41.12: non-existent
domain
*** Default servers are not available
Default Server:   Unknown
Address:   53.197.41.12
The "Forward Lookup Zones" has the "abc-defg.com" information,  is the
internal domain of our machines.
The "Reverse Lookup Zones" has the 3 default "nnn.in-addr-arpa" zones
created.

My big question is: can we have only one DNS server to resolve
internal and external names?!

I allready read a lot about this, and seems everything is ok. Off
course it isn´t, and I just can´t find where is the issue...

I appreciate any help...

Best Regards...

Yes, one DNS server should suffice. You should change the DNS settings so
that both the forwarders and the root hints point to your ISP DNS server.

Additionally, ensure that all clients and servers (including the DNS server
itself) are configured to use the local DNS server for name resolution.
There should be nothing pointed directly at the ISP server.

The nslookup error is not really an error and can be safely ignored. It just
means nslookup cannot do a reverse lookup on 53.197.41.12 so maybe you don't
have a reverse lookup zone for that subnet?

Hello, Simon...

I did it, but without success.
If the first Forwarders address is from the Internet (200.225.64.2),
only internet is OK.
If the Intranet DNS server (12.71.31.12) is the fisrt, then only
intranet work fine...
When I use Forwarders, it seems like ignoring the "root hints". Is
that correct?!

Thanks at all!
