Hi,

I have a DNS Server with a zone named aaa.bbb.pt
The machine which is hosting the DNS Server in its ip dns
configuration is pointing to itself (DNS Server :
192.168.2.1).

The DNS Server is called server.
If I ping server.aaa.bbb.pt on the DNS Server machine it
resolves the IP address of itself.

In a client machine with the dns pointing to the sae
server:192.168.2.1 I cant resolve the server.aaa.bbb.pt to
an Ip address ....

I also have wins server in the LAN and I can resolve the
netbios name server from the client. should I use
winslookup on the zone of the DNS server?
How can this be possible ? What can be wrong in my
configuration ?

I would help any help on this issue.

TIA

Carlos

How are you testing the name resolution? Using ping from a command prompt?
IF so, have you checked the hosts file and see if the hosts file on the
client has the wrong IP address that you are seeing?
The hosts file is located in the winnt\system32\drivers\etc directory and
has no extension.
