I have a couple of DNS servers which are running on NT 4.0,
Point 1.
DNS server's are supporting/servicing 2 Domains say A & B,
servers are sitting in B domain ( kinda resource domain)

Point 2.
DNS servers have lot of static entries which are like
server1.externalDomainName.com, which is being used by
both the domains.

Server part in the above FQDN is local servers used by
local users and remote VPN clients.

Question:1
In the event of NT upgrade to Win2k i will be introducing
DNS servers which will support resource records, and as
all the clients are Win2k professional they will register
themselves properly in the zone, once they log into the
Domain controllers. When the server's try to register their
names as server1.NewDomainStructureName.com how will the
DNS server's handle these resolution.

Question 2
Can i still keep a common zone of all static entries while
at the same time most of the servers will make their
entries dynamically with the new names.

Question 3
Will clients still be able to resolve & find resources
using both static and dynamic entries for the same
server...or will they get confused like ME.

Thanks
( all inputs are welcome, I am testing some of these
scenarios in the Test Lab environment ...so can test any
suggestion)

Win2k and later can dynamically register in two different zones
simultaneously, with one as the primary DNS suffix and the other as the
connection specific DNS suffix.
