I have set up a Windows NT 4.0 (SP 6a) to troubleshoot an
insure.  However, I cannot get it to recognize the
network card.  The mother board does not recognize it
even though I know it works.  I have tried to add the
network card driver/adapter directly but am told that the
network card is not present in the system.  How can I get
Windows to recognize the network card so I can connect to
the internet?

Try a different slot.
Is it an ISA card or PCI?

It must be a driver issue or a resource conflict or it won't work with NT.
Typically when NT says the device does not exist it is because you have the
wrong driver. NT can be very picky with NIC cards and I have found many that
simply do not work. Get a different card and be done with it.

I agree, NT4 is not very plug and play compatible. On some NICs you can get
DOS programs from the manufacturer that can change the hardware resources if
they conflict with another piece of hardware.
