System Spec.  Compaq Proliant ML370 Server, P3-933 384mb,  Windows NT 4.0
Server.

Setting up the DHCP server, have selected my range of IP Addresses.  Have
some machines using the DHCP and some using Static IPs.  Some of the Static
IPs are
within my DHCP range.

Problem: Some of the machines that are using a Static IP are starting to
hang or disconnect from the server.

Do all the machine on the network need to be using the DHCP server for this
problem to be solved?

I wanted to make sure the DHCP server was working before I changed 30 some
odd machines to obtain an IP address automatically.

Thanks,

R. Hayden

No, DHCP is not an "all or none" type of thing. Perhaps it is only
coincidence that the machines having problems are statically addresses.
Perhaps they are all attached to the same switch and the switch is causing
the problem?
You do need to make sure that any IP address that is statically assigned to
a machine is excluded from you DHCP scope so the DHCP server doesn't try to
give the  IP to a DHCP client.
