One of my computers regsiters itself with the wrong computer name. I deleted
the mapping and then when i go login the network again with the server the
same thing happens i open WINS and wrong name appears. I added a static
mapping but i had issues before with static mappings where it would say a
duplicate name exists on the network.

any suggestions...

Hello Dan,

When a machine is registering a specific name with WINS then there is some
application or something on that machine requesting the WINS Server to
register
the name.

You can run the following command on the machine which you think is causing
this problem to see what name it might have registered:

nbtstat -n

Then start looking for any applications that are capable of registering
names within
WINS.
