I recently had to replace my PDC which also happenned to host my Primary DNS
server. I have two secondary DNS servers, one of which is a remote site, the
other is my BDC. The new PDC is a WINNT BDC with SP6 installed. DNS seems to
be functioning correctly. Both secondary sites are doing zone transfers as
expected. My problem is that since standing up the server around a week ago,
on three sepparate occasions I receive compaints that no one can browse the
web. I checked DNS from the administrator console and all of my local
records are there and the cache seems ok. I attempted an NSLookup and
anything I tried failed, including my local records. I again verified that
the records were there with the DNS Admin console and all looked good. I
stopped and restarted the DNS service and then everything was working fine
again. I scoured the event logs on the server and I see no events related to
DNS. If it was once I would have chalked it up to a normal NT oddity, but
three times in the last week is concerning me.
Any Ideas?

Update. The local Secondary Server (on an NT4.0 BDC with SP6a) I am getting
the following in the Event Log.
Source: DNS
ID:6527
Type: Error
Description: {IpReverseTakenOut}.in-addr.arpa expired before successful zone
transfer from zone master(s). Zone has been shut down
I see this event for the primary site also.
