When I issue a ping from my XP client, to any of our other XP clients,
it returns the ip adr. of our win2003 web-server(214.161.234.75) like this:

>ping    XPclient1
Pinging   XPclient1.ourdomain.com  [214.161.234.75]

>ping    XPclient2
Pinging   XPclient2.ourdomain.com  [214.161.234.75]

Why does it expand to XPclient2.ourdomain.com?
How do I fix this problem, so I can find the clients?

Do you have correct "A" records in DNS for your XP clients? If not you
should add them.

Thanks,
Marc Reynolds

DNS stores machine names->IP addresses in a record type called "A" thus you
get "A" records.
