We have an nt dns server which started to continuously query the root
servers. This obviously results in a lot of bandwidth which we believe is
not necessary.
We don't know what caused this problem but it has been going on for a week
or so. Restarting the dns service or rebooting the server doesn't solve the
problem.
Any hint most welcome!
Thanks
Leopold

We don't know whether it's the server itslef or if it's a client that's
sending the DNS query causing the DNS server to do the lookups.
Have you scanned the DNS server and the clients to see if they have any
virus?
To see which client is causing this behavior, take a Network monitor
capture and you can look at the DNS traffic.
