I found the following KB for the Windows 2000 , it confirms the same .  I m
not sure of NT machines chk out.

RESOLUTION
To work around this problem, enable File and Printer Sharing on Windows
domain controllers and any computer that is listed in the browse list.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products
that are listed at the beginning of this article 254527.
