There is no defragmetion toll installed on NT server 4.
I suspect a drop in system performances and an increase in
backup times because we don't defragment our server while
it's heavily used.
Can anyone recommend a good defragmentation toll for NT 4
servers? Is there anything free availiable on the net?
Any suggestions - comments?
Any help appreciated,
Regards

Benoit,
Microsoft doesn't include a built-in defragmenter with NT4. However, there
are numerous 3rd party defrag products available:
PerfectDisk - www.raxco.com
Diskeeper - www.execsoft.com
O&O Defrag - www.oo-defrag.com
Winternals - www.winternals.com
Each of the above vendors have free evaluation software available. However,
licensed software will cost you a few dollars. Each varies in ability to
defragment files, consolidate free space, minimum free space required,
etc...

Try www.diskeeper.com. Itt's a slightly crippled (but
free) version of Executive Software's Diskeeper. It works
pretty well if the hard drive is less than 2/3 full, not
so good after that.
Good luck
