user created an access database using office 97.  he
converted it to an mde file and when other users try to
open the file they get an error that the date format
mmm/yy is not valid.  It's only happeing with one database
that this person created, the rest are ok.  All user's are
running NT with Office 97.  This is similar to kb issue:
271072, however, there it said that it may be a problem
with a user creating the mde in access 2000 and someone
with 97 is trying to open it.  In this case, they have the
same version.  thanks!

Your query would better be served in a MS Office News Group.
