NT and USB

I've been told numerous times and also seen it for myself
at the microsoft web site that Win NT 4.0 does not support
USB but I have seen SGI computers running NT 4.0 with not
only USB but Firewire. What is the difference between
these two technologies?

The hardware manufacturer created a specific Windows NT driver for the
device.
