This problem has just popped up. On attempting to open a folder, My
Computer, My Network Places, etc the operation stops and I get the following
message
"Explorer exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. An error
log has been generated."
The event viewer has the following message associated with the event:
"The shell stopped unexpectedly and Explorer.exe was restarted." Source:
Winlogon; Event Id: 1002.
Problem started when I installed a freeware version of ACEHTML, Build 11.
Uninstalling did not solve the problem. I have no problem opening
applications and accessing files on the harddrive through the applications,
I just cannot open a folder of any kind.
Ran RegristryFix and found numerous problems, which I let it repair.
However, there are four abnormalities that RegristryFix finds and can't
repair
These are:
1.

exist at the specified location

I am running Windows 2000 NT with Service Pack 4 and all latest updates.
Its not clear to me these two occurances are connected (i.e the shell
stopping unexpedtedly and the regristry problems). With this limited
information can anyone assist me in trouble shooting?
Thanks
