Win2K SP4 and SP5 Hotfixes
Having recurrent prob with BT ADSL Installer failing to complete
This runs 2 procs, Setup.exe and SetupDUN.exe - these just sit and chew CPU
Modem - BT Voyager 105 USB ADSL seems to install ok but...
Methinks it has to complete as above
When try to connect to Internet will halt at DUN, can't get IP addr
Locks up PC with retries and returns afer 3-5 mins
This same installer runs on WinME and WinXP SP2 and completes
Can then get a connection but not with Win2K SP4 as above
Solutions tried
Figured it might want a MS JVM so...
installed MS JVM Build 3508 but still same problem
Is it a MS JVM problem?? WinME and XP where have a JVM, run Build 3810
Can't install MS JVM Build 3810 from a redist package onto Win2K SP4
Also, Tried installing a normal DUN modem and get a connection ok!
Suspect Win2K Components not at fault but.....
Can query the ADSL modem, get carrier and connection i.e.
Up/Down stream speeds, firmware loaded etc.
Any suggestions folks?

I did not understand all your details.

But as I would say: "Why don´t you try to install the BT (british telecom?)
ADSL Modem via hardware detection?

First make shure you get working drivers (*.inf-files) from british telecom.
After that copy those files into a folder on you harddrive or on a high
density disk. After that plung in your BT Voyager 105 USB ADSL into you
USB-port. The hardwaredetection will start now. When you will be asked to
install driver the give the path to your folder on the harddisk or on the
high density disk where the *.inf-files from british telekom are saved.

Otherwise send me more details.

regards,

Dirk Lehmann
