I have a laptop donated to a charitable organization I
work with.  It has NT but we do not have the password.
We have bought a copy of Windows XP Home, the complete
version not the upgrade.  How do we do a new install if
we cannot get past the login screen.  We have tried
booting it with the XP CD in the drive but it still goes
to the log in screen.

Possibly set the boot order in cmos setup to CD-Rom first in boot sequence.
Also look for the keystroke (if necessary) at POST to force boot from CD-Rom
drive or check your mb/pc manual for instructions.
