Hi,

I scheduled an application(Butler.exe) which we
developed, to run in the Windows NT4 SP6 workstation. The
application runs at the scheduled times for every 5 min for
24 hrs.  But sometimes I get the following error(given
below) when I see the schedular logfile. After this error
has occured, the task schedular service is not working
properly. Only if I restart the PC, the service runs
normally again.

"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)
       Started 6/13/04 4:58:00 AM
"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)
       Finished 6/13/04 4:58:00 AM
Result: The task completed with an exit code of
(0).

"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)
       Started 6/13/04 5:03:00 AM
"Task Scheduler Service" 6/13/04 5:27:15 AM ** Error **
An error has occurred that will negatively affect
the operation of the service.
       The specific error is:
0x80070020: The process cannot access the file
because
it is being used by another process.
"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)

       Finished 6/13/04 5:28:08 AM
Result: The task completed with an exit code of
(0).
"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)
       Started 6/14/04 12:03:03 AM
"Butler.job" (Butler.exe)
       Finished 6/14/04 12:03:04 AM
Result: The task completed with an exit code of
(0).

Can anyone tell why such an error occured in the task
schedular service??  As you can see, after the error the
task schedular service has stopped executing the scheduled
job for sometime. It started again at 6/14/04 12:03:03 AM.
What could be wrong? Any fix available?

Thanks
Senthil

On the settings tab for the task "Stop the task if it runs......" you might
try something less than 5 minutes.
