Audio Latency on Multicast Streams

I'm deploying multicast programme content to around 250 desktops in several open plan office areas...

I have noticed that whilst each machine can connect and render the content each PC seems to differ slightly when playing back the audio element.

This creates a "carcophany" of sound in the open plan office with some machines playing the audio slightly before others.....

short of giving everyone headphones I'm at a loss as to how to fix this.

Ideally I'd like every PC to playback the audio at the same rate.....

Custom low latecy IP stacks on clients?
server tweaks?
or a proprietary solution $$$$$ such as IP/TV?

any thoughts.

Hi BobbyBox,

The delays that you're encountering are the result of network bandwidth
issues, individual player settings, system performance issues and buffering
between the server and each of the clients connected to it.

It is possible to reduce some of the delay that users experience by
minimizing the size of the buffers used between the server and each of the
clients.  The following article describes the various types of broadcast
delays and shows you what you can do to reduce the amount of buffering that
takes place and how to configure each of the components to maximize
playback performance:
