We are using WMS 4.1, and we would like to use DRM to protect uploaded
content. We would like the individual content creators to encode their files
with DRM (using the Windows Media Encoder) before uploading.

I'm having difficulty finding information on how to set this up. All I can
tell so far is that we need to set up our WMS server with DRM, and somehow
get profiles to the users(?), or get them to use their own profiles(??) to
encode with.. Maybe we have to register somehow as a service provider(?)...

Can anyone shed some light on this topic?

Thanks for your time.

Once you have protected content, for the delivery part,
you wouldn't have to do anything special to your WMS v4.1.
i.e, the server will try to distribute it like any other
file. But as soon as the player opens it, it will find
that it is protected content and will do a whole set of
things to get the license for the content (so you will
need to setup the DRM infrastructure for this part). Once
the license and rights are validated, the client will then
play from the server similar to non-protected content.

The following 2 links given below may be of help on what
are the things involved w.r.to DRM.
