WMT9 Fast-cache question

Hi,

We are building wmt9-based audio application. It use event-notification and
authentication custom plug-in to ensure basic security. It checks
random-generated
parameter at the end of each mms URL.

It seems that full-cached media from streaming in Media Player 9 seems not
to connect origin WMT9 server at all. Is it right? I double-checked using
packet capture program, but I can't find any packets between player and
streaming server. I want to check validity of MMS URL every time using
custom plug-in, even the media is fully played from player cache. Is there
any way to play cached media after connecting WMT9 server to ensure it is
right
file? (e.g. not exist, authentication timeout, etc...)

When I turned off Fast Cache feature from WMT9 server, it works but it
doesn't
utilize Fast Cache... always streaming from WMT9 server.

I actually got around this problem by leaving fast-cache enabled, but
lowering the expiration time from the default of 86,400 seconds (24 hours)
to 30 seconds.
That way the player will still take advantage of the performance increase
granted by fast-caching, but you don't have to worry about it playing only
from the cache and not checking back with your server for possible
changes/updates to the content.

How can I set expiration time of cached object? Can it be done in
server-side?
I can not control all client players.

I think if I can control cache expiration time it's enough in this case.

Thanks

In the WMS MMC snap-in:
Pub point properties - Cache/Proxy - Cache Expiration
