Windows Server Forum / Windows Media Server / December 2003Multicasting
Has somebody here successfully set up a multimedia streaming ? Whenever I try to start a publishing point for a multicasting stream, I receive an error message stating that the Media server (latest Win 2003 Media server) is not a multicasting compatible mediaserver, which is absolutely ridiculous. What can be the reason ? Any idea ? Thank you very much in advance for a hint. Answers, please, to my email address. Manfred I think your eitire network has to be multicast compatible or else the operation will bomb. Hi Manfred, I presume you are using the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition as the standard version does not support multicast. Can you post the exact error message? Also, do you get the same error when you disable the "WMS Multicast Data writer" plug-in in the Properties->Multicasting of publishing point and then try to start the publishing point ?
