Hi.  We're currently running Windows Media Services on Win2000 Server,
encoding our content with Windows Media Encoder 7.1.  Each ASF file is then
linked to via an ASX file.  All of this is pretty standard I know.  The
problem is that while the file launches OK when you click on the link to the
ASX file from a webpage, you can't skip through the file, rewind or
fast-forward.  It's like it isn't streaming.  I have checked the encoder to
make sure that it is set to index the file (which it is) and the ASX file
seems to be OK.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards,

Mark

Two questions that may help narrow down the problem:

Are you able to FF, RW, or seek within the file when opening the content
locally in the player ( no streaming involved)?
Are you sure that the publishing point that is hosting the content that the
ASX file points to is in fact on-demand instead of broadcast?

Thanks for using Windows Media Technologies.
