Live URL re-direct?

We had been hosting a live publishing point for several years.  This is a
24/7 always On publishing point on WMS 2003.  We hosted the bandwidth for
this server at our own data center.  For discussion purposes, let's say the
link was http://myserver.com/Pubpoint

In the last several months, we decided to stream out of a CDN so we wouldn't
take a bandwidth hit.  The URL is now http://CDNserver.com/DifferentPubpoint
We changed the links on our webpage to point to this new URL, however over
the course of the last several years, several outside websites had taken our
original publishing point http://myserver.com/Pubpoint and embedded a player
on their site which plays from our old location back at our data center.  The
powers that be here decided that they did not want to lose the traffic from
those outside websites, so we are continuing to stream out of both locations.
Those direct linkers that come back to our data center can still watch the
stream on our original pubpoint, and those who connect through our webpage go
to our CDN.

We are trying to find a way to redirect those direct linkers who want to
watch http://myserver.com/Pubpoint to be sent to
http://CDNserver.com/DifferentPubpoint but can't seem to figure out how to do
this. Still host some WMV traffic out of our data center so we can't do a
full DNS redirect of domain names from http://myserver.com to
http://CDNserver.com.  We just want to keep our existing publishing point
active on our server, but for each request that comes into it, we want those
users to be re-directed to our CDN.

Any advice?

Yes :)
You need to create Client Side Playlists ASXs, and put them on your
server to fake publishing points.

so instead of http://myserver.com/PubPoint
create IIS web site with name of Pubpoint and inside put default.html
page with content of ASX client side playlist instead of html code.

Or you could put some Dynamic ASX generator described here:

Will the same thing work if the remote direct linkers are using an
mms://myserver.com/PubPoint  link instead of  an http link?   I think we have
some sites who are using the mms link instead of the http link.

Hm, you could do it definitelly, but I'm not sure if there is way to
configure IIS to do it. For custom coding I'm sure that it can be
done.

Hi Jeremy

If you are using Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition or Windows 2003
Server Standard or Enterprise Edition it is possible to develop the proxy
WMS plug-in which will seamlessly redirect the users from the old server's
publishing points to the new ones. So your old WMS server will act a proxy.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
