Wonder if someone can help me. We have WMS on 2k3 enterprise pulling a 48k
stream, however sometimes it will get disconnected (for whatever reason) and
then it dumps all my clients. Quite often the stream has re-established
within a few seconds but I've lost all my clients.
Is there anything similar like I have my Shoutcast servers, in that if the
incoming stream goes, it will start to play a backup file until the stream
re-establishes?
Help appreciated, Harry.

Hello Harry,
I think the best solution here is to develop custom datasource plug-in which
will play the given file then publishing point has stopped.

Why ? I'd just use the already provided "WMReconnect" for distribution
servers in this instance, alongside "WMNoDataTimeout" to specify how
long the server should wait until it decides the stream was dropped :
See "To enable content rollover in case of encoder failure"
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/urlmodifiers.aspx#u
rlmodifers_encoderfailover
You'd then provide a backup resource (such as a JPEG or WMV) which was
sent instead of the live content, should the connection be lost.
Typically that might be a video indicating technical issues and that
the user may wish to restart the stream in a few minutes if it doesn't
automatically recover.
Setting repeatCount on the SMIL element would accomplish that :
