I have scoured this site for the solution but to no avail.  I have working
published point.  Works fine on local subnet
(mms://myserver/publishingpoint1), I can't reach it from the outside IP
address.  The IIS webserver works fine.  I can't reach the MMS.  I have tried
mms://the ipaddress:1755  as well.

Any ideas

I have this exact same problem, have followed the directions and it still
will not work. The log files do not even show a connection attempt. I think
WM Server is rejecting connections because the server IP and my WAN IP are
different.

I have the same issue...I have searched the internet as well as this group
for solutions but have not been successful. I have read every firewall, nat
configuration, guide available for windows media server2008 and nothing
works outside the local network. I even placed my windows media server in
the dmz area of the router and yet still no access to it from outside of my
local network. Is there anyone who has gotten a windows media server2008
publishing point, on its own box,...separate from the iis server that is
hosting the web site with links to the media on the media server, to work
with a client player that is outside of the local network that the webserver
and the media server are located in? Please post what you did to your
firewall or media server configuration to make it work. Much appreciation to
anyone who takes the time to reply to this issue.

i am at wits end!
