Hi,

I want to set up a media server for live streaming through a webcam.

I have Windows Server 2008 set up on my machine with media service role
added. My question is, can I set up the encoder on the same machine? I want
to do this as a prototype and due to lack of resources, I can only work with
one machine.

If this is possible, can someone suggest the most basic setup to make this
happen.

Thanks!

Yes, although not recommended, you can run WME and WMS on the same box
provided you can find hardware drivers that work with Windows Server. The
setup would be the same as if WME were running on a separate box; you'll
just use "localhost" for the IP address.
