Hi all, I am trying to access, the media files on our Media server(Which is
an Windows 2003 server having Windows Media services Installed.), from my
WM5.0 device, having WMP10.0, Using the URL mms://Server name/Pubhishing
Point name/Media file name.

It doesn't seem to be working, it tries to connect to the server and fails
with the notification, server is busy.

All these Urls work fine with the Desktop PC.... For accessing media,
Mobile devices, do I need to do something else....

Kindly help me with some sample code and documentation.

Regards,

SaiSubha.

Try rtsp://server/pubpoint.

Thank you for your response Mike, I had already tried rtsp both on desktop PC
and Pocket PC.

In Desktop PC, the Url fails with the error, Page can not be deisplayed. And
on the device, it fails with the error, URL is not properly fomatted.

Can you suggest, what I am missing....
Or for wireless streaming we require some different technique.

Regards,

Sai Subha.

One more thing Mike, I am trying to access over GPRS connection, And I hope,
Streaming is possible over GPRS. I even tried by encoding the media files by
the encoder at 19kbps. Still it shows, Server busy...In some document, I
found, It was suggested to set the proxy settings, But I didn't find any such
option in WM5.0 device.. I am totally, lost what Am I supposed to do,
Everywhere, it says its supported but, doesn't work for me.....

Some operators (I think O2 for sure) run a "walled garden" which only
permits their streaming content to be delivered to the device.

Check out wikipedia for walled garden may get you links which indicate
the network operators who allow free access to streaming by devices on
their network.

Neil

I am using an iMate SP5 device having AirTel Sim.... If you are saying that,
its a problem with streaming the content to the device, then how it works
while cradle is enabled/ having a wi-fi connection.

I even tried broadcasting via Windows Media encoder, It streamed the content
on the desktop browser by WMP open URL method, but again failed on the device
with the WMP Error Message 80070057.....

Yes, exactly that. If it works OK over wifi or cradled, but not over
GPRS then the GPRS network operator is almost certainly blocking your
stream, since you've demonstrated there's no problem with wifi.
