No, it doesn't require a DNS entry. Make sure you've added the media
services executable to the firewall exception list in server 2003.

There's lots of other useful information in that document too, which
you should read to ensure your firewall and routing are correct.

Well, my media server is outside the firewall, I tried from 2 computer
plugged into the same switch outside of the firewall, as well as PC in my
LAN.
If I put IP Address of the media server to my HOSTS file of any PC
no problem at all.
I have 2 computer outside firewalll (on the same switch), trying to watch
video from the pc outside the firewall is the same problem, unless I put
MEDIA server IP address to PC's hosts file
So it has nothing to do firewall, so, web client (IE6) trying to open the
streaming video, somehow referencing a host name that it needs.

Another thing is that I can watch the video using
mms://IP-ADDRESS no problem, from anywhere.
Just HTTP://IP-ADDRESS is the problem unless I add a HOSTS record on local
host file of the PCs.

possibly you need to dig into the system users andassign the correct
priveledges to them
