i need service pack 4 or higher to be able to install the
ipod software and my windows millenium edition is not
supported by this service pack what am i to do???

This group is for Windows 2000.  Ask your question in a group devoted in
Windows ME.  Before doing that, though check the ipod software to see if
it's even compatible with ME.  This Washington Post article suggests not:
