My mum has W2000 with SP3 on her PC and she uses a dialup
connection which falls over every 5 mins. I have
downloades the sp4, but when it tries to install it, the
installation fails as it cannot find a connection with the
internet. The screen tells me to go to the service pack
part of the microsoft site and download a version that
doesn't need the internet connection to do the actual
installation, but I am unable to find such a place on the
microsoft site. Any ideas ?

failing that, I have Broadbabd on my PC so connections are
not a problem. However, I have Windows XP. Can I download
the service pack onto a CD and install it on her PC that
way ? Any ideas/suggestions appreciated

There are 2 ways to install sp4:

Express setup (over the internet) many problems here
Networking Setup (you download the entire sp4)

if you have a fast connection, use the second option and burn the file
on to a cd. don't forget to select your right language of sp4, and
install it with administrative privileges
