I configured Windows Update as Microsoft Update, to update all
Microsft applications, on both my newer Windows XP Pro system and on
my older Windows 2000 Pro system.
Last week, Windows Update on my WinXP machine offered to upgrade MS
Internet Explorer from 6.0 to 7.0 which I accepted. However, it has
made no such offer on my Win2K system. Why not?

I think this is my answer: MSIE 7.0 only supports Windows XP Service
Pack 2 and newer. See http://www.savewealth.com/support/ie7/systems/
