Clean install of W2K SP4 with IE6 SP1 installed. I click on Windows Update
and all that happens is the "Searching for Updates" bar comes up and just
sits there, nothing else happens at all. No message, nothing. How do I fix
this?
Thanks

Update - it's just taken 35 MINUTES to decide it needs to download new
versions of Windows installer and BITS. Done that, restarted, and now it's
doing the same thing - just sitting there with the coloured bar moving
across the box - total time so far - 45 minutes.......

I have recently encountered this after a reinstall. I did get a screen
somewhere along the
way that I need a newer version of IE. Win2k comes with 5. I put 6 on and
it works much better.
