My Windows update fails on my Win 2000 Pro PC (all up to date except for
this which doesn't work).

I tried re-booting and re-trying several times and tried running
anti-virus and anti-spyware and re-trying. Also tried them individually.
No luck at all!

Update output below.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

MS

I have exactly the same problem and have not found a fix  and get no help
from MS.  IF you find a solution , please pass it on.  Thanks.

FYI
I recently had this problem with the updates released on 11th July
I have update set to download and inform me when ready, ie not autoupdate
The download got no further than 21%
Trying manual update from either Start>Winupdate or IE Tools>Update or
microsoft.com all caused IE update page to freeze - rebooting didnt help and
sys is clean.
Tried microsoft.com>office update this ran giving me 7 security updates
which installed, required a reboot then winupdate functioned correctly

Thanks for the input.  I do not have MS Office loaded on the 2000 machine.
A little update for you on the problem though.  All of a sudden the other
day out of the blue, update started downloading fixes.  It stopped by itself
and now the update icon shows up about every 10 minutes and when I click on
it, it starts to "intitalize" and then stops.  It shows up immediately after
it closes down and when I click on it, it disappears. About 10 minutes later
I go through the whole loop again.  MS must have a 'buggy " system and no
way to correct it I guess<grin>.  Thanks for the input and keep me in mind
if you find any other information on how to make it work as advertised.
