Hi,

I noticed a new update a few days ago, and hesitate to install it until I
know it's safe.

Security Update for Windows 2000 (KB912919)
Date last published: 1/5/2006

Has anyone had problems with it?

Thanks,
Dugie

It's an important one.  See http://www.grc.com/sn/notes-020.htm and
http://www.webpronews.com/topnews/topnews/wpn-60-20060105MicrosoftReleasesWMFPat
chEarly.html

I installed it with no troubles.

It's not the same update, but I now can't synch my Toshiba e400 Pocket PC.

"Office 2002/XP   Security Update for Outlook 2002 (KB892841)
A security vulnerability exists in Microsoft Outlook 2002 that could allow
arbitrary code to run when opening a maliciously..."
(No mention if can be uninstall or not)

PROBLEM: After install,
"Unable to open your default e-mail folders...
"DLL file for the info service not found. MPI unable to load the info
service PSTPRX.DLL."
I searched for PSTPRX.DLL, but can't find. Only found pstprx32.dll.

I did the suggested restart of desktop computer, no help. Then did suggested
Outlook 2000 Detect & Repair using the original Pocket PC Outlook install
CD. No resolution.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

<and snip>

I solved the problem following and modifying a tip I found on
http://www.york.ac.uk/services/cserv/help/mail/access/outlook/trouble/pstprx_dll.htm

/Quote begin
How do I fix a PSTPRX.DLL error when I open Outlook?

If you get the following error message:
"Unable to open your default e-mail folders. The .DLL file for the
information service could not be found. MAPI was unable to load the
information service PSTPRX.DLL. Be sure the service is correctly installed
and configured."

Make sure Outlook is closed and right click on the Outlook icon on your
desktop.
Choose Properties.
Click on Show Profiles...
In the Always use this profile box select Default Outlook Settings from the
drop down list.
If you do not have Default Outlook Settings option, choose York IMAP
service.
Click on Apply, then OK.
/Quote end

I selected <Dugie> as “Always use this profile” in the drop down selection.
(I had no "Default Outlook Setting" or "York IMAP service" choices)

All my data returned, and I synched with no problem.

Since I installed it I am having trouble saving ;large jpg files in
photoshop.
While I can't say for sure, I am very suspect.
