I am running Windows 2000 with all of the windows updates.
The "Telephone" icon in my control panel was corrupt and I deleted in
hopes of being able to reinstall it.
The question now is, how do I reinstall the "Telephone" icon in the
control panel ?

After toying around in the control panel I somehow got the icon back but
it has the name I gave it when I tried to rename it in hopes or
installing a fresh copy of it, and I can't rename it back to the
original or standard windows name.
Now I'm getting the same error message when I exit out of the
"Telephony" icon.
thanks..

Hi;
Not really a Windows Update issue, but. Suggest you boot into Safe Mode
and then replace the "telephon.cpl" file in the System32 folder with the
one from your original Win2000 CD. Then Restart back into safe mode
and the icon should show in Control Panel.
