Hi All,

After installing update KB904368 my screen has turned green.  All
white areas are tinted green and other colors seem to be showing up
differently.  Is there a fix for this other than uninstalling the
update?  The green tinge is really hard on the eyes.  Thank you to
anyone who can help.

Suspect pure coincidence, check monitor "color settings" in the OSD
accessed by the monitor adjustment buttons.

Hi Bob,

Thank you.  What is the OSD???

I uninstalled that update; the green persisted for the restart, then
the screen color turned back to normal after just a moment or two, so
there is definitely something wrong with that update.  Is anyone else
experiencing the same problem?

The "On Screen Display"

Thank you, Bob.  My monitor doesn't have any color adjustment button,
unfortunately.  I had to uninstall the update to get the normal color
of the screen back.

That's a rather odd side effect. Out of curiosity, what video card and
monitor are you using and are the drivers the latest from the manufacturer?

Hi, I'm using a Dell Monitor (can't find the model #), and an Nvidia
(I hope I spelled that right) video card.  As far as I know, the video
card driver is current, but I'm not sure about the monitor's.  The
change in screen color is definitely linked to that update on my
system for some reason, and I really don't know what to do about it.
I guess I could try finding out whether my monitor driver is current.
I didn't even know the monitor needed a driver.

Contact Dell Support. Monitors use an ".inf" file to provide the
information relating to the monitors capabilities(resolution, refresh
rates etc.)

Thank you.  I'm not sure if that's even possible because I no longer
have a product code, etc., for accessing their site (I tried
yesterday).  The pc was a gift in 2001 but the monitor didn't come
with it - it was bought second hand, I think, and was also a gift from
someone else.  The pc originally came installed with Win ME, but after
the first hard drive crash I installed Win 2K on the new hard drive.
So, you see, the pc has been through a lot of changes.  I moved cross
country a year ago and the slip of paper with my computer's product
code is lost.  I could try and get the serial number off the back.
I'm sorry to be writing so much - I just have a lot of confusion.

Since you have "switched out" the original supplied operating system and
drivers that came with the PC it's likely that you are running with
whatever defaults came on the Win2k cd. Get "Everest" from the link
below, run it to find out what hardware you have, then visit the video
adapter manufacturers web site and get a current driver. The monitor
manufacturer will likely also have an inf file but that is not as
important as the video card drivers.
