How do I get WU to not use BITS?
Sky King - 25 Aug 2005 17:53 GMT
Hi;

You can't.  At least not by any method I've ever heard/read (short of
setting up your own WSUS server, perhaps).  Why would you wish to do
that?

If you are having trouble with BITS, it may help to manually
download/install the latest update:

Also. open the Services list (enter "services.msc" on the Start/Run
line) and set both AU and BITS services to Automatic.

I have a couple of machines where BITS won't start.  Why did MS force
the use of BITS on this latest version of WU?  I don't benefit much
from it anyway, so I figure if I could get WU to skip BITS, I wouldn't
even notice the difference.
