Hello,

I've got an old SGI320 running Windows 2000, however I've recently been
unable to patch it with the latest security patches which is a problem...

For example Windows Installer 3.1 fails:

The error messaeg I'm getting is:

           Could not locate entry for HAL.DLL in SETUP.LOG to determine
type of HAL to update

I've got a file called SETUP.LOG within %SYSTEMROOT%\Repair, which I'm
assuming is the one referred to above, and within this file I've got

[Files.SystemPartition]
hal.dll="halborg.dll",'26c9b"

And that file exists on the disk.

Any ideas what's wrong ?

If you've downloaded the windows update "update rollup 1", then this link may
help:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;891861

A lot of info to sift thru, but it helped me...

Sandy
