I have licensed original Win2k pro SP1. Want to reinstall OS on laptop. My
plan is to reforrmat C,  reinstall Win2K SP1 then install SP4 which I have
downloaded. My understanding is that SP4 on top of SP1 negates the need for
SP2 or SP3. Is that correct? I also understand that recently MS bundled all
of the post SP4 fixes into a unified update (but not a SP). Where is that
located so I can download it as a single large file or CD image. I don't
want to uses the live update feature because when I am finished I would like
to have 3 CD's. One my original MS CD and the other a CD containing SP4 and
whatever this latest combo update since SP4 came out. The reason for this is
to have the ability to rebuild the system to at least this point when MS has
stopped providing updates for Win2K.
Thank you for any advice in advance

Hi;

The item you want is named "Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4" and
can be downloaded from this site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C0A2CA36-1179-431C-80E6
-60A494D3823D&displaylang=en

And you are correct; you won't need any earlier service packs when
installing SP4.

Sorry to report that the rollup is not available except thru the
"Genuine Advantage" screener.

Strange I thought that MS made all security and critical updates
available without that GA tracking stuff????????????

Guess that's not so.  ??????

And while I'm writing this what ia the exact data that GA tries to get
anyway??  How do we track what it GA is doing???

Here's a FAQ for the GA validation, including one that lists what info
is gathered:
