Hi all.

In Windows 2000 Pro (SP3), in the Control Panel, the Automatic Updates radio
buttons are grayed out and can't be changed. Anyone know how to fix this? I
read other posts and tried their solutions and here's what I have discovered:

1. Checked the registry and saw that neither of the following keys even exist.
-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Windows
Update
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Windows
Update

Would someone kindly explain how to add them?

2. Tried turning it off, restarting, turning it on and restarting ... no luck
3. Checked MSCONFIG to verify that "Load all device drivers and services"
was selected
4. Ran services.msc to verify that the Automatic Update Service set to
automatic

Try HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate

By any chance, are you using SUS? That could explain why your wuaucpl is
greyed out.
