I have about 40 Windows update uninstall information
directories (e.g. $NtUninstallKB820888$) in my WINNT
directory.
I'm trying to free up some much needed space on my hard
drive. Can these be safely deleted?

Yes, but be aware that you will not be able to uninstall the updates
afterwards should you want to.

If you don't believe that Microsoft's updates are any good, delete them but
be advised that Windows is a constantly improving operating system.
Microsoft is nice enough to constantly provide free updates to make the
system work better. You could move to a new version.
