Hi all,

I am currently evaluatin some tools for use with rolling
out MS Patches to Servers and PCs on a corporate network.

However the problem I am facing is this:

There are some Desktops running Japanese Windows 2000 b ut
most of the market patching tools are only able to detect
the OS type (i.e Win98 / win2k) but are unable to
differentiate if it is Enlgish / Japanese / Chinese.

1) Can i apply the English OS patches on non-enlgish
Windows OS?

2) If I can't, is there any means to determine the OS
type? (via a certain registry key value)?

Appreciate some help on the above.

Thanks and best regards,

Joe

What tools are your evaluating?  Why not talk to those vendors and ask them
why their "tools" don't work for your purpose?
