I have a user that works out of her house using a Brother hl-1440 series
printer.  She has a windows XP Pro machine and uses Remote desktop to connect
to our W2K server.  She was able to print to her local printer, but now
cannot.  I have since then referred to the KB239088 "Windows 2000 Terminal
Services Server Logs Events 1111, 1105, 1106".  I made the necessary registry
mods and created another inf file called ntprintsubs.inf and referenced the
section called printers.

In this file I have this exactly:

[Printers]

"Brother HL-1440 series" = "HPLJ4.GPD, LPTENUM\Hewlett-PackardHP_La185F,
Hewlett-PackardHP_La185F, HP_LaserJet_4"

Where the Brother is the client side driver and the HPLJ4 is the reference
to the HP Laserjet 4 printer driver as recommended to me in a previous
newsgroup posting.

My question is, I obviously need to install the printer on the server side
of things.  Do I install the Brother printer drivers or the HP laserjet 4
printer drivers?  I have done both and it still does not create a session for
my user.  I'm obviously missing something here.  Or is my INF file messed up?

I am receiving these event logs:

Source: TermServDevices   Event 1111
Driver Brother HL-1440 series required for printer Brother HL-1440 series is
unknown. Contact the administrator to install the driver before you log in
again.

Same source  event: 1106
The printer could not be installed.

I get the same error whether I have the HP printer installed or the Brother
printer installed.

I would really appreciate any further assistance!!

Thanks a bunch!!

Tia,
If possible why not uninstall/reinstall the brother print driver on the
server, then when the user logs into the server have them reinstall their
printer on their TS port and choose the correct driver?

I wouldn't do this, because then you are back at square one, with
a 3th party, non TS compatible driver on your TS.

The line in your ntprintsubs.inf file should look like this
(following the example from the KB article:

"Brother HL-1440 series" = "HP LaserJet 4"

That's all the information the server needs to know which driver
it should load.
