I will try to be as clear as possbile, but this is new to me.

I have an older PC running windows 2000 that I would like to put in my
basement and control from my WinXP PC in my office.  I have a simple
home network sharing my DSL.  Everying seems to be working fine.

Yesterday I tried to setup the RDP in WinXP to do this.  I followed
several articles and this is what I did.

I used the XP disk to install the RDP onto the 2K coputer.  I then set
the 2K computer to listen.   I was able to establish a connection to
this PC from the Xp computer.  When I tried to launch RDP the
connection failed everytime.  I tried using the IP address which
failed, and when I tried to browse for the PC nothing would display.

During the successful connection, I could browse the drives on the 2K
PC, but this seemed exactly like mapping drives which I do normally.
If I tried to launch an app on the 2K computer, the same app launched
on the XP.

Maybe I dont completely understand the RDP feature.  Could someone
please point me in the right direction and give me a big push.
