we are currently using PCanywhere for remote control on
dial-up win2k boxes. Is there a microsoft alternative to
host a remote dial-up box. Can win2k non server edition
host a terminal service or remote desktop app for dial-up
remote control? Thanks for any info!

No, you can't run terminal services on a W2K workstation.
Options are pcAnywhere, VNC or Netmeeting.
