Can a computer running Windows 2000 Professional be controlled remotely by
Remote Desktop on Windows XP? I know Windows XP Professional can be
controlled as it has the services built in, but can they be added?

My assumtion is not. I feel that I would have to use a remote application
like VNC,  Funk's Proxy or PCAnywhere.

This is until the powers that be can agree to the XP upgrades and,
ultimately, a Windows 2003 Server set up as an application server.

Any advice?

Also, is there a better newsgroup to post this to?

You assumption is correct.  2000 Professional does *not* have
Remote Desktop or other remote control type software built
in.

Is there a Microsoft Add-On, such as one in a resource kit or service
pack, that will allow a Windows 2000 Professional machine to HOST RDP,
like a Windows XP Professional machine?

No, there isn't. From http://ts.veranoest.net/ts_faq.htm

Q. How can I Remote Control my Windows 2000 Professional client?

A. You can't do this with the Remote Desktop Protocol client. A
Windows 2000 Professional workstation can only be an rdp client, not
a host.
Use NetMeeting or VNC instead to connect to your W2K Pro desktop.
