I'm using Windows 2000 Server SP4.

When I plug my Epson Stylus Photo R360 USB cable into the server
almost the only visible sign of anything happening is the appearance
of "Removable Disk G:"  in Windows Explorer.

There is no "remove icon" on the task bar.
Device Manager shows "USB Composite Device on USB 2.0 Bus".
The Hardware Wizard does not list the device for removal.

If I add a USB Drive to the server the "remove icon" appears but still
does not list the printer for removal.

Apart from all this the printer works perfectly with every application
I've tried including Office, Paint shop Pro, Epson Status progs, etc.

The only problem is that it seems to be impossible to switch off or
unplug the printer without getting "Unsafe Removal of Device".

Help!

The memory card slot in your printer is being treated by Windows as a
removable disk drive.  I think you're not getting a "safely remove"
message because that's only triggered by a card in the slot, not the slot
itself.

Getting an "unsafe removal" message when you power the printer off sounds
like a minor driver issue, but shouldn't be a problem if you're not using
the slot.  Check for an updated driver.

That sounds reasonable.

I do use the slot on occasion, in fact I've just loaded an SD card to
see if an icon appears on the task bar.  Nope.  Nothing happens.

My driver version is 6.10, the latest is 6.1a.  I'll update tomorrow
but considering the age of Win2k I cannot see that Epson will be doing
much bug fixing on it.

Thanks
